29th July 2024: 🍵 Glenlyon Tea Rooms Now Online! 🍵 We are excited to announce that Glenlyon Tea Rooms now offers internet, Wi-Fi, 2G, 4G, and LoRaWAN services. Thanks to Starlink for backhaul and Wavemobile's core and radio network, visitors can now enjoy a digital experience alongside their tea and treats.
28th July 2024: 🚂 Corrour Station Goes Digital! 🚂 Corrour Station, one of the most remote railway stations in the UK, now has internet, 2G, and 4G services, all made possible through the 5G DRIVE project. Using Starlink for backhaul and Wavemobile's advanced network, we're proud to bring connectivity to this isolated location.
27th July 2024: 🏞️ Loch Ossian Youth Hostel Connected! 🏞️ Loch Ossian Youth Hostel is now fully connected with internet, Wi-Fi, 2G, 4G, and LoRaWAN services. Our use of Starlink for backhaul and Wavemobile's core and radio network has enabled this remote hostel to offer digital connectivity, enhancing the experience for all visitors.
25th July 2024: 🛫 Barra Airport Takes Off with New Connectivity! 🛫 Barra Airport now boast a comprehensive internet, Wi-Fi, 2G, 4G, and LoRaWAN services, thanks to the 5G DRIVE initiative. 23rd December 2023: 🏡 Mill Farm Now Connected! 🏡 We are thrilled to announce that Mill Farm, a quaint hamlet of six cottages nestled in a valley, now has internet, Wi-Fi, 2G, 4G, and LoRaWAN services. With Starlink providing the backhaul and Wavemobile's core and radio network, residents and visitors can now stay connected even in this previously underserved area.
19th December 2023: 🚜 Cannon Hall Farm Now Connected! 🚜 We are excited to announce that Cannon Hall Farm, a large working farm and popular public attraction, is now equipped with 2G, 4G, 5G, and LoRaWAN services. With the latest connectivity enhancements, visitors and staff can now enjoy seamless communication and a more connected experience across the entire farm.
7th October 2023: 🎉 5G DRIVE Showcase Event – A Huge Success! 🎉 On 7th October, we held an exciting showcase event at Harwell, hosted by the talented Lucy Hedges. The event, which marked a significant milestone in our project, celebrated the £1.4M extension granted to further our work. Virgin Media O2, in collaboration with our partners Cisco, Wavemobile, DSIT, Ori, and the University of Warwick, demonstrated an innovative virtual presence use case. The technology allowed several universities to connect virtually through their own 5G networks, linking seamlessly to through the wavemobile core network over SEPP / N32c. A highlight of the event was a panel session hosted by Dr. Mike Short, where participants from different university locations joined virtually, showcasing the powerful potential of 5G connectivity.
24th January 2023: the second article from Dr Mark Grayson, Cisco Fellow, talks about why Private cellular networks are essential for enterprise operations and digital transformation.
17th January 2023: Dr Gregory Epiphaniou, talks about the work of the researchers from the University of Warwick and the work they are doing to investigate the security and privacy of the 5G network deployed in the project and assessing the lightweight encryption algorithms that can be applied to protect the confidentiality and integrity of the messages being passed..
